Plan Your Perfect Summer Wedding

Crug Glâs is a summer's wedding dream

Bright blue skies, sunshine and the chance to wear a beautiful wedding dress without feeling a chill invokes an image of a perfect summer wedding. At The Cow Shed at Crug Glâs, we can provide the breathtaking backdrop for a summer outdoor wedding.

As summer is considered the wedding season, there are many things to take into account when you are planning a summer wedding.  Here is our Wedding Planner’s checklist to help your summer wedding run smoothly.

Your planning guide to a summer wedding

1. Book in advance

Summer is a popular time for weddings, so if you have a particular date in mind, book your venue early. At The Cow Shed, we provide exclusive use of our venue for you and your guests for the day, evening or the whole weekend. This means you won’t have to share your big day with anyone else. Bliss!

2. Be weather-wise

You may dream of bright blue skies and uninterrupted sunshine, but in Pembrokeshire, you have to consider all eventualities. Umbrellas can double up as parasols, and marquees protect from sun and rain. While we can’t control the weather at Crug Glâs, we can make sure that you have everything you need, so you are ready for sunshine or showers.

3. Menu choices

Light, summer dishes may be heaven-sent to your guests in the warm months. When planning your menu in advance, you often consider the food you want at the time, but it is wise to think about what dishes are best in the summer.

At The Cow Shed, our expert chefs can create custom menus to suit every wedding. What’s more, we always offer a menu sampling so that you can be sure of a delicious feast come the big day.

4. Make-up for the bride

Make-up sliding off your face is a definite no-no for the big day. Make sure you plan the best make-up for potential scorching weather which includes lots of mattifying products and setting powders to keep you glowing, not shiny. It is wise to practise your make-up before the big day to ensure its staying power.

5. Stay hydrated

Summer weddings mean that plenty of refreshments are needed. Consider some cooling drinks for the wedding reception to make sure everyone feels comfortable. As well as champagne and Pimms, consider glam soft drinks too such as Elderflower Fizz,  Strawberry and Basil Coolers and Virgin Mojitos and Bellinis.
